Add your weather station to the Meteo Cloud network

The Meteo Cloud network collects and publishes data from the stations that are part of it, in Italy and anywhere in the world. Readings are pulled automatically every minute, normalised and archived: from there they feed the live map, the comparison tables, the interpolated maps and the analyses we publish.

Joining is free: there are no fees and no subscription.

What your station gets

  • Live data on web and app — temperature, humidity, pressure, wind, rainfall, solar radiation and UV, refreshed at every acquisition cycle
  • A dedicated page with the current summary, charts and the day’s extremes
  • A historical archive that grows day after day
  • A spot on the worldwide live map and in the station comparison table
  • A contribution to the interpolated maps, national and regional: your readings enter the processing alongside nearby stations
  • Credit as the data author, under the name you choose

Requirements

You need a station that already publishes its data online, wherever it is. We support Wunderground, Cumulus and CumulusMX, Weather Display, Meteobridge, Wview and Davis WeatherLink (IP and Live): depending on the method we need either your account credentials or the direct link to the data file your software generates.

If you use Wunderground and cannot find your account API key, here is where it lives. Careful not to mix it up with your station password: they are two different things.

We only accept stations sited to WMO standards. This is not a formality: a reading taken in poor conditions is not simply less accurate, it distorts the comparisons, the interpolations and the averages of the whole network.

You can attach a few photos of the installation in the form: it is the quickest way for us to assess it together and, if something is off, tell you what to change before adding the station.

How registration works

As you fill in the form we verify your credentials in real time: we query the service and tell you straight away whether the station answers and with what reading. It is the quickest way to catch a wrong key or an unreachable data file, before you even submit.

You then receive an email summarising what you entered. We review it and write back as soon as the station is live, or if something needs fixing — in which case you simply reply to that email, with nothing to fill in again.

Who manages the station

Not published: we only use it to contact you.

Shown publicly as "Data by ...". Leave empty to use your first and last name, or write whatever you prefer: a first name, a nickname, an association name.

Location

The region and full province name are derived from this.

The first-level administrative division: region, state, canton or department.

Optional. If it does not apply, we keep the first-level division.

Needed to timestamp readings correctly: the options change with the selected country.

Per l'Italia scegli dall'elenco dei comuni della provincia selezionata.

The street appears in the public station title, together with the town.

Not published: it stays in our records only.

Decimal format with a dot, e.g. 41.7757707. You can paste the pair copied from Google Maps here: we will split it.

E.g. 12.6578503. At least 3 decimal places.

Just the number, without "m" or "a.s.l.".

The weather station

A temperature sensor is required to join the network.

How we read the data

Choose the service or software we can pull observations from. The fields below change accordingly.

The Wunderground ID is also the code identifying the station in our network. If the station has none, we assign one automatically.

Example: ICISTE36. You find it on your station page on wunderground.com.

It is 32 characters between 0-9 and a-f. Careful: it is NOT the station password nor your account password.

The direct link to the file, not to the page containing it. E.g. https://yoursite.com/realtime.txt

You find it in Device Info on weatherlink.com, 12 characters like 001D0AC00872. It goes together with the password of the account that owns the station (not an account it was shared with).

The password of the account owning the station. If it contains symbols and verification fails, try changing it to letters and digits only: the v1 API handles them poorly.

On weatherlink.com: Account, API section. These are the v2 API keys, not v1. The credentials belong to the account: if you own several stations we list them and you pick the one to register. We will only read that one.

Open your station on weatherlink.com: the browser address bar shows a long code like 9722cfc3-a4ef-47b9-befb-72f52592d6ed. That is the Station ID, paste it here. Alternatively press "Verify now" above and we will retrieve the numeric form. Careful: it is NOT the Device ID from Device Info (001D0A...).

Sign in to ecowitt.net with the account that registered the station, open the top-right menu, Private Center, API tab: press Create under Application Key and copy the value. It is not the account password.

In the same API tab of Private Center: press Create under API Key and copy the value. It works together with the Application Key above.

On ecowitt.net: Devices, then your station, Device Info. Or in the WS View Plus app. 12 characters like CC:50:E3:D1:B4:59, with or without colons. For a 4G gateway (GW3000 cellular) enter the IMEI here.

Optional

HTTPS only.

Installation photos
No photo selected

JPG, PNG or WEBP up to 8 MB each. They help us assess the station exposure: an overall view and a close-up of the radiation shield are the most useful. We only use them for the assessment and delete them afterwards.

Which data becomes public

The network is public: your station page is visible to everyone. Here is exactly what appears and what does not.

Public

  • The name shown as the data author (your first and last name, or whatever you choose)
  • Town, province, region, country and street (without the street number)
  • Coordinates and elevation, which place the station on the map
  • Brand, model, sensors, radiation shield, installation type and placement
  • Station code and data upload method
  • The readings sent by the station, both live and in the historical archive

Not public

  • Email address and street number
  • API keys, passwords and credentials of any kind
  • The photos you send, which we only use to assess the installation and then delete

You can ask us at any time to change the displayed name or to remove the station from the network: just write to us.

Consents

Fields marked * are required. Credentials are verified: if they are not valid the request will not enter the queue.
